3 Simple Ways to Steal the Look of Joanna Gaines’s 'Favorite Room' in Her House

From Country Living

Joanna Gaines is here to serve up some more design inspiration via her "favorite room" at her Waco, Texas farmhouse.

The former Fixer Upper star posted a new photo showing off her serene laundry room. You’d think because she has five kids—and goofball Chip Gaines as a husband—that this area would be totally chaotic. But instead, it’s incredibly soothing.

Joanna shared the picture to highlight the veggies she had plucked from her garden and then washed at her work station that might as well be a mini kitchen. “We just harvested a bounty of leafy greens this morning from our garden and they are headed to Magnolia Table today!” she wrote.

While they look like a delicious ingredient for a healthy meal, what we can’t stop staring at is the surroundings—and how this corner would make an absolutely perfect cooking and eat-in dining space.

If you’re like us, then you’ll want to copy the look of the Homebody author’s nook. So we’ve pulled together a few different ways you can channel your inner Joanna, whether you're overhauling a washroom to be just like hers, or redesigning a kitchen that you want to mirror her serene setup.

It's all about that base.

Industrial-modern fixtures are Joanna's go-to. The concrete countertops, for example, mix well with the all-white farmhouse sink for a clean, but cool, backdrop. But where is the fun, you ask? In the floor tile!

Make it nice and bright.

Joanna has her sink right under the window, because who doesn't want more natural light while cleaning clothes or doing dishes? She layered in light wood shelves and a drop-leaf table to brighten up the darker elements and provide a place to gather. If you're short on storage, you can also add a cart in a similar shade. She painted her brick white, but you could get the same effect with subway tile.

Always accessorize!

Joanna opted for old books and stoneware in a cream shade, galvanized steel pieces, and more wood tools like a mortar and pestle. She also included plenty of greenery for a dose of color, and because she's a certified plant lady. Plus, that basket! We’re going to need it ASAP.

Though obviously no one does design quite like Joanna, we think you’ll be happy with hacking a few of these ideas in any room of your choosing. Happy decorating!
