Three people in Fort Resolution, N.W.T., were injured with an "edged weapon" on the weekend, RCMP say.

Officers were called to a residence around 3:10 a.m. on Sunday to respond to a complaint of assault with a weapon.

The officers attended and found three people injured. All three had "non life-threatening injuries" and were treated at the Fort Resolution clinic and released, police say.

A 74-year-old man, who police have not named, was arrested in connection with the incident and charges are pending.

RCMP also said they were told a firearm may have been discharged as the three injured people were fleeing the scene.

A "long gun" was recovered from the scene, RCMP said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP.
