3 men stabbed in apartment building in Montreal's Saint-Laurent borough
Three men are in hospital following a stabbing at an apartment building overnight in Montreal's Saint-Laurent borough.
Several 911 calls were made around 4 a.m. Sunday concerning a fight in a building on Crépeau Street, according to Montreal police spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.
Three men, aged 26, 29 and 40, were stabbed and rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Two men, aged 28 and 26, were arrested Sunday morning in connection with the incident. A 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, were later arrested in the afternoon. Police say they're not looking for more suspects.
The assaults occurred during a party and were not related to organized crime, drugs or a hate crime, SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc said.
Drouin says there are several crime scenes currently secured inside the apartment building.
"A lot of people are being interviewed by the police to find out more about the initial conflict and why it escalated," she said.
The building's fire alarm was also triggered, causing the evacuation of around 100 residents. City buses were deployed to keep people warm until they could return to their homes.
A large security perimeter and a police command post have been set up in the area as officers continue their investigation.
