Portfolio management in decentralized finance (DeFi) remains a highly manual and, at times, costly process, especially on platforms like Uniswap v3 where “concentrated liquidity” means that a user might have their position liquidated entirely to one side of a pair. The Ethereum-based and soon-to-be Cosmos-managed project has raised $23 million in a round led by Polychain Capital, the team announced on Wednesday. The round included participation from Byzantine Ventures, Tendermint Ventures, Secure Ventures, D1 Ventures, Ferngrove Ventures and Alameda Research.
Perhaps it was inevitable that Spotify and Shopify — with their similar-sounding monikers — would eventually join forces. Spotify on Wednesday announced a new partnership with ecommerce provider Shopify to let artists list merchandise directly on their profiles on the audio-streaming giant’s platform. Any artist globally can already link to their Shopify store if they […]

Taiwan tech giant Foxconn is making big plans for its new electric vehicles. The sedan, SUV and bus were unveiled earlier this week. On Wednesday (October 20) Chairman Liu Young-way said the firm was looking at making them in Europe, India and Latin America. He described a Mexico plant as "very possible", but said a factory in Europe would come first. Asked if the firm would work with German car makers, he said that it would, but "indirectly". Foxconn admits that it's a beginner at auto making. But it's been making plans apace. The firm has a joint venture with Stellantis on in-car technology. It's also bought a factory from U.S. startup Lordstown Motors, and acquired its own chip plant. Best known as the maker of Apple's iPhones, Foxconn now wants to diversify away from making gadgets for other brands. Besides making its own, it also aims to become a major supplier of parts and services for EVs.
Canadian home prices barely rose in September from August as a recent slowdown in housing sales weighed, data showed on Wednesday. The Teranet-National Bank Composite House Price Index, which tracks repeat sales of single-family homes in 11 major Canadian markets, rose 0.1% in September from August, marking the fourth consecutive month in which the monthly price increase was lower than the previous month. "The slowdown in price growth can be linked to the slowdown in housing sales reported in recent months by the Canadian Real Estate Association," Daren King, an economist at National Bank of Canada, said in a statement.
Inflation rose to 4.4% in September, beating the average analyst estimate of 4.3%, to reach its fastest clip since February 2003, Statistics Canada data showed. CPI common, which the Bank of Canada calls the best gauge of the economy's underperformance, was flat at 1.8%, while the other two measures of core inflation posted gains. The Bank of Canada expects headline inflation to remain above its 1%-3% control range this year.
Credit Suisse misled authorities over spying on its staff and lied to investors about a corrupt loan to Mozambique, regulators said, painting a bleak picture of the cultural decay at the global bank. The hefty fines announced late on Tuesday by British and U.S. regulators in the Mozambique case as well as a rare rebuke by Swiss regulators over the spying affair mark a low ebb for a Swiss bank that was once a pillar of the economy. Credit Suisse, which brought in seasoned banker Antonio Horta-Osario as chairman in April to stop the rot, said in response that it condemned the spying and had taken "decisive" steps to improve its governance and strengthen compliance.

Over the weekend, the crew of Engine 205-B responded to a service call of a resident who needed help with rescuing a cat trapped in her cinder block wall. It seems the cat entered the hollow wall at the top and found itself trapped when it crawled down to the base of the wall and got stuck with only its head sticking out of a very small opening. Still available to respond to 911 calls for services, the crew broke a couple of the cinder blocks using a halligan tool and sledgehammer and saved the cat that was in obvious distress. The cat was then treated by an emergency veterinary clinic. In another chance of luck, the cat matched a description on a lost pet flyer. The owner was contacted and directed to the pet in hopes of a happy reunion. Video credit Mesa Fire and Medical Department
