JOHOR BAHRU, March 19 (Bernama) -- The police have arrested 24 Chinese nationals and a Malaysian in raids on three condominiums in Iskandar Puteri over alleged illegal online forex trading.
Johor Police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said today the 19 Chinese men and four women, aged between 19 and 50, enticed unwary members of the public with promises of lucrative returns from their so-called investment.
The Malaysian acted as their supervisor, he told a press conference.
Ayob Khan said the raids were conducted two days ago by personnel from the Johor Commercial Criminal Investigation Department and Iskandar Puteri District Police headquarters.
The police seized 14 laptop computers, 84 mobile phones, six modems and eight desktop computers in the raids, he said.
He also said that the Chinese nationals were being held in remand for 14 days from yesterday and the Malaysian, for three days.
