Brianna Long was studying dental hygiene at Valdosta State University
Georgia authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old woman who was killed as she finished work at a bar in Remerton.
Brianna Long was finishing up her shift at The Pier, where she was a bartender, around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when she was hit during a shooting outside the bar, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced in a press release.
Long was inside the bar after it closed when the shooting began. It stemmed from an apparent altercation outside, the GBI says, adding that many patrons were outside when it happened and multiple vehicles were shot.
Authorities say Long was taken to the hospital where she later died. No one has been arrested or charged in connection with her death.
Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or the Remerton Police Department at 229-247-2320.
According to a report from WCTV, Long was studying dental hygiene at Valdosta State University and is originally from Dallas, Texas.
“Our hearts are broken over the senseless loss of Brianna Long,” the university said in a statement reported by WCTV. “We are keeping her family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.”
