2021 a year of climate chaos in Europe, experts say
STORY: Summer temperatures were about 1 degree Celsius above the average over the past three decades, with Italy even recording temperatures of 48.8C – a provisional record for the whole of Europe.
Freja Vamborg, a senior climate scientist at C3S, said some specific regions of Europe were even more affected.
“There are many parts of the Baltic which are more than 5 degrees (Celsius) above average, which is a lot for seaside temperatures,” she told a briefing.
Vamborg also said the concentration of carbon dioxide and methane concentration had increased in the atmosphere in the course of the year 2021.
