2020 Olympics betting: Can the USWNT end the Olympics with a bronze medal?

It's time to hand out some women's soccer medals. The bronze medal match is set for the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 5 while the gold medal match takes place in prime time in the United States. Here's what you need to know to bet on either of the two events at BetMGM.

Bronze medal match

Australia vs. United States

4 a.m. ET, Aug. 5

Australia (+333)

United States (-145)

Regulation tie (+260)

Over/under: 2.5 goals

Maybe we’ll get some entertainment in this one. Both Australia and the United States were safely in the knockout rounds when they met in the final group stage game. That resulted in a staid and boring affair with both teams content to play for a scoreless tie to save energy and prevent injuries. The U.S. enters this match without goalie Alyssa Naeher after she suffered a knee injury in the semifinal loss to Canada. This is likely the USWNT’s final competitive match with its core group of Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn and others. They’ll want to go out with a medal, but it can be hard to get super motivated when that medal for winning is a bronze and not a gold.

Official match pick: Australia +333

Gold medal match

Sweden vs. Canada

10 p.m. ET, Aug. 5

Sweden (-140)

Canada (+360)

Regulation tie (+250)

Over/under: 2.5 goals

Sweden has been the most dominant team of the tournament while Canada is coming off the high of finally beating the United States in the Olympics. With this game situated in primetime in North America — NBC was sure hoping that the USWNT would be in this slot — we’re pretty sure what most of Canada will be watching on Friday night. While we can’t rule out Canada’s chances in this game based on the way it has played both before and during the Olympics, this looks like an unstoppable Sweden squad.

Official match pick: Sweden -140
