1 dead, 1 critically hurt after 2 trucks crash in Mississauga
A woman is dead and a man is critically injured after a garbage truck and a transport truck collided in Mississauga on Thursday, Peel police say.
The collision happened in the area of Goreway Drive and Derry Road W. Police were called to the scene at about 2:25 p.m.
Both drivers were taken to a trauma centre with critical injuries, police said, and the woman was later pronounced dead.
The woman was driving the garbage truck, while the man was driving the transport truck, Peel police spokesperson Const. Moulika Sharma told reporters.
All eastbound and westbound lanes on Derry Road are closed from Goreway Drive to west of Hwy 427.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Ontario's Ministry of Labour is on the scene to investigate.
