A woman has died and two others are injured after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga on Friday, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say.

Officers were called to the eastbound lanes of the highway, near Winston Churchill Boulevard, shortly after 9:05 p.m.

OPP say the driver of a minivan lost control resulting in the vehicle rolling over several times before ending up in a ditch.

Three occupants were in the minivan, including a 23-year-old woman who was pronounced dead. Another passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries and the driver was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The stretch of the highway was closed for several hours on Friday night but has since reopened.
