"Manchester City on track for another league title"

If things go Manchester City’s way, it could be crowned English Premier League champions for the fourth consecutive season on May 15.

Pep Guardiola’s men play Fulham on May 11, and Tottenham, four days later. Two wins could see them amass 88 points, which could hand them the title if Arsenal slips up against Manchester United on May 12.

As it stands, Arsenal leads the way with 83 points from 36 matches, with City a point behind but with a game in hand. Liverpool is third with 78 points.

Arsenal’s final match of the season is against Brighton on May 19. If it avoids defeat to Manchester United, the title will be decided on the last day of the season.

Aston Villa should lock up the fourth and final Champions League spot as it has 67 points with two matches to play, while Tottenham has 60, after 35 games.

Below them are Newcastle (56 points), and Chelsea and Manchester United with 54 each.

United, recently ranked as the world’s most valuable club, faces the prospect of missing out on Europe based on its league position but could still snatch a ticket if it wins the FA Cup on May 25.

Sheffield United is already relegated, and Burnley and Luton could join it back in the Championship next season.

Chris Wilder’s team will finish bottom of the season after only collecting 16 points from 36 games. It has conceded 100 goals – the most-ever for a 38-game season, and equalled Swindon’s record when there were 42 EPL games a season in 1994-1995. It will set an unenviable record with two matches still to play.

Burnley has 24, Luton 26, and Nottingham Forest – deducted four points for breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules – has 29.

To avoid relegation, Burnley must win its last two matches and hope Luton and Forest do not get positive results in the next two weeks.

This week, Burnley will face Tottenham on May 11 at 10pm. Luton will play West Ham at the same time. Forest, meanwhile, plays Chelsea on May 12 (12.30am), knowing it could be safe by the time its match kicks off.
