Turkey - Factors to Watch on Nov 24

ISTANBUL, Nov 24 - Here are press reports, news and events that could affect Turkish financial markets on Tuesday.

The lira <IYIX=> was trading at 1.495 against the dollar in early trade, compared with Monday's close of 1.496. The yield on the Aug 3, 2011, benchmark bond <0#TRTSYSUM=IS> rose to 8.83 percent from a previous 8.80 percent. The main share index <.XU100> rose 1.26 percent to 45,801.42.

GLOBAL MARKETS

The U.S. dollar rose 0.2 percent against a basket of major currencies. Oil prices <CLc1> were little changed at around $77.50 a barrel ahead of a weekly inventory report due later from the American Petroleum Institute.

Asian shares fell, despite upbeat U.S. home sale data, with investors cautious ahead of U.S. economic data and the start of the Christmas shopping season this week after the Thanksgiving holiday, a key test of consumer confidence. [ID:nGEE5AN00W]

DEBT AUCTION

The Treasury will sell a seven-year lira-denominated floating-rate note, maturing on Sept. 28, 2016, at auction.

CENTRAL BANK

The bank is due to release its financial stability report.

Turkey's largest media group will meet tax authorities as it seeks a settlement for a record tax fine .

GALATASARAY SPORTIF <GSRAY.IS>

The owner of the Istanbul football club expects to earn $200 million by developing land it owns on the Black Sea, Sabah newspaper reports. It is in talks with U.S. property developer CB Richard Ellis <CBG.N>, as well as Russian, Kazakh, Arab and German firms on developing the Riva property.

ANADOLU SIGORTA <ANSGR.IS>

Turkey's second-biggest insurer will cover the costs of treating the H1N1, or swine-flu, virus, even though it normally does not cover officially designated epidemics, Chief Executive Mustafa Su says, according to Vatan newspaper. In Turkey, 112 people have died from the disease.
