PIPER JAFFRAY <PJC.N>
The middle-market investment bank and institutional securities firm appointed Nimish Shah as principal of U.S. equity sales, with immediate effect.
Sandler O'Neill + Partners
The New York-based investment banking firm said Fred White has joined as a managing director of its investment banking group.
White is a former financial institutions attorney at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and whose previous clients include The Bear Stearns Cos Inc during its merger with JPMorgan Chase & Co <JPM.N>. and Lone Star Group's acquisition of CIT Group Inc's mortgage lending businesses.
KING & SPALDING
The law firm named three attorneys, including Morgan Stanley's former co-head of litigation, as partners specializing in financial regulation and securities litigation.
James Cusick, James Capra and Diana Weiss joined the firm's Washington D.C. and New York offices from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where they were partners. Cusick is the former Morgan Stanley <MS.N> litigation co-chief, while both Capra and Weiss worked elsewhere in private practice.
CANTOR FITZGERALD
The investment banking firm created a new investment and advisory business. Stephen Ardizzoni will serve as the new unit's head.
The firm also said Mike Johnson will run its European leveraged capital markets business, joining from Augusta & Co.
WINSTON & STRAWN
The New York-based law firm added Lawrence Larose and Samuel Kohn as partners in its restructuring group, and William Grant to its mergers practice team.
Larose served as lead counsel during MBIA Insurance Corp's restructuring, and was previously head of Dewey & LeBoeuf's restructuring practice.
Kohn also joined from Dewey & LeBoeuf, and Grant was previously a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
WILSON SONSINI GOODRICH & ROSATI
The Palo Alto, California-based firm hired Christopher Kirkham as a partner specializing in corporate finance. Kirkham will be based in the firm's San Francisco office.
Kirkham was formerly with O'Melveny & Myers.
BERWIN LEIGHTON PAISNER
The law firm appointed Linda Adelson as a tax partner. She will join shortly.
MARSH
The insurance broker and risk adviser, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Co <MMC.N><MHMM.L>, appointed Eleni Petros as a senior vice president in its financial and professional practice.
MATRIX ASIA FUND
The fund, which is one of Matrix Group's <MAIG.L> businesses, announced the appointment of Sam West to the team.
BELL INVESTMENT ADVISORS
The Oakland, California-based investment management firm said John Tregenza will serve as client development director. Tregenza previously worked at Whittier Trust Co.
ONECHICAGO
The Chicago-based stock futures exchange said three directors have join the exchange's board.
Andrew Clearfield, William Pridmore and Eric Wolff were named public directors, effective immediately.
