Bic Camera Inc slid 10.9 percent to 30,550 yen after the Nikkei business daily said the major electronics retailer is likely to have missed its earnings forecast for the year ended August due to slowing consumer spending.
Bic Camera's recurring profit is expected to have totalled about 16 billion yen in the previous business year, down from a 17.45 billion yen profit a year earlier and falling short of its own forecast of 18.2 billion yen, the Nikkei said. 0200 GMT **HITACHI CON <6305.T> FALLS AFTER REPORT ON EARNINGS DECLINE**
Hitachi Construction Machinery Co, Japan's second-biggest earth-moving equipment maker, dropped 9.6 percent to 1,642 yen after the Nikkei business paper reported that the company could see a first profit decline in seven years in the year to March 2009.
A sharp fall in demand in Europe and signs of weakening sales in countries such as India and Russia could cut its profit, the Nikkei said.
Nomura Securities Co said in a research note on Wednesday that it expects Hitachi Construction's pretax recurring profit to fall 7 percent to 90.5 billion yen during the year. 0200 GMT **RENOWN <3606.T> TUMBLES ON DOWNWARD EARNINGS REVISION**
Renown Inc fell 9.8 percent to 157 yen after the apparel maker widened its six-month loss forecast, hit by sluggish sales of spring and summer items amid cooling consumer sentiment.
Renown said its operating loss is likely to have come in at 4.4 billion yen for the March-August period, compared with its previous estimate of a 3 billion yen loss. 0200 GMT **TOYOTA <7203.T> DOWN ON REPORT OF BEARISH EARNINGS** Toyota Motor Corp fell 5.4 percent to 3,510 yen after the Nikkei business daily said the automaker's annual operating profit will likely fall some 40 percent from last year to around 1.3 trillion yen for the year to next March.
