KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Meteorological Department today issued an alert on the possibility of floods occuring at low-lying areas in Pahang, due to intermittent, occasional heavy rain until Wednesday.
According to a statement issued today, it said floods might hit Kuantan and Pekan, especially at low-lying areas near river banks.
Meanwhile, the 'Red Alert' warning for Kelantan and Terengganu has been maintained until Wednesday.
The department said, due to strong northeasterly winds of 40-50kmph, the coastal areas of the two states would be exposed to waves of up to 3.5 metres.
Intermittent, occasional heavy rain occurring from time to time in Pahang, Perak, Kedah and Perlis is expected to continue until Wednesday.
In Pahang, the area affected would be Jerantut, Maran and Rompin, Perak (Hulu Perak, Larut and Matang), and Kedah (Sik, Baling, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kota Setar and Pendang).
