DR ASRI'S DIFFERENCES WITH PGSM RESOLVED, SAYS JAMIL KHIR

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Differences between former Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and the Malaysian Syarie Lawyers Association (PGSM) have been resolved after a meeting between the two parties, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Maj Gen (Rtd) Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom today.

"This is a positive development and InsyaAllah a press statement will be issued by the PGSM, and this is the spirit that Muslims should adopt," he said.

Dr Mohd Asri had graciously agreed to the peace plan, Jamil Khir told reporters after attending a council meeting of the Yayasan Wakaf Malaysia (YWM) Board of Trustees, here.

The former Mufti was earlier reported to have planned to sue the PGSM as it was said to have made personal attacks on him in a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on Oct 12.
