RUBBER PRICES EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN UPTREND NEXT WEEK

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) –- Malaysian rubber prices are expected maintain their uptrend next week amid the rainy season in major producing countries such as Malaysia and Thailand, a dealer said.

He said although the rubber price on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange snapped its two-day rally on Friday with the Apr il delivery contract declining by 2.1 yen to 235.2 yen per kg, the underlying sentiment for the commodity remained intact.

"The market will come back stronger next week," he said.

For the week-just-ended, rubber prices remained higher.

On Friday-to-Friday basis, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 increased 19.5 sen to 818.0 sen per kg while latex in bulk added 11 sen to 518 sen per kg.

The unofficial sellers’ price for tyre-grade SMR 20 climbed 18.5 sen to 820.0 sen per kg and latex in bulk went up 9.5 sen to 518.0 sen per kg.--BERNAMA
