PENANG, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The police crippled a syndicate whose illegal betting activities in Bukit Mertajam near here, brought RM3.6 million to its coffers monthly.
This followed a raid at a renovated room of a shop about 6.50pm yesterday.
A police team detained three men and three women aged between 22 and 44, to facilitate investigations.
Penang police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said today, the suspects were caught red-handed counting and recording the illegal betting.
