KL SHARES HIGHER AT MIDDAY

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session higher boosted by buying activities in selective bluechips, following the sharp overnight gains on Wall Street, dealers said. At noon break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (FBM KLCI) rose 7.76 points to 1,261.72, after opening 6.11 points higher at 1,260.07.

OSK Research pointed out that the near-term technical outlook of the FBM KLCI remained firmly bullish.

An analyst said the key index will further extend its gains, supported by the positive market sentiment. The FBM Emas Index gained 41.28 points to 8,429.76, the FBM Top 100 improved 39.47 points to 8,218.06, the FBM 70 however, fell 5.15 points to 8,104.9 and the FBM ACE Index surged 123.03 points to 4,721.64. The Finance Index advanced 87.649 points to 10,800.06, the Plantation Index added 9.22 points to 6,073.58 and the Industrial Index rose 11.49 points to 2,699.08. Gainers led losers by 376 to 184 with 249 counters unchanged and 463 others untraded. Turnover stood at 887.298 million shares worth RM838.536 million. For the actives, Green Packet-Warrant fell one sen to RM1.00 while Green Packet rose one sen to RM1.50, Redtone increased 2.5 sen to 44 sen and GHL System added five sen to 54 sen. Among the heavyweights, Sime Darby increased five sen to RM9.05, Maybank rose two sen to RM6.85, CIMB advanced 12 sen to RM12.82 and Tenaga was unchanged at RM8.40. -- BERNAMA
