KLCI FUTURES LIKELY TO BE LOWER NEXT WEEK

Bernama - Saturday, July 5

KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) futures contracts are expected to be lower next week in line with the cash market, dealers said.

During the week just-ended, the futures market was lower as it took the cue from the downtrend on the cash market.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, spot month July 2008 fell 62 points to close at 1,110, September 2008 lost 62.5 points to 1,095.5 and December 2008 dropped 68 points to 1,073.5.

Contract month June expired on Tuesday while contract month August started trading that day.

Volume decreased to 44,899 lots from 112,177 lots last week and open interest declined to 37,501 contracts from 52,501 contracts previously.

On the cash market, the underlying KLCI eased 56.4 points to 1,134.14 from 1,190.54 last Friday. -- BERNAMA
